A rich mid 19th century Mexican folk retablo — Saint Michael Archangel, patron saint of warriors and soldiers. Saint Michael, leader of the forces of heaven in the triumph over the forces of evil, is usually depicted as he is here, as a winged archangel in battle attire with a menacing dragon underfoot.
