This rare 19th century retablo represents “Our Lady of Atocha,” with the infant “Nino de Atocha” perched comfortably in her arm.
Our Lady of Atocha is the patroness saint of miners — still venerated today at Plateros in the state of Zacatecas.
Inscribed: Sta. Ma. de Atocha.
